What Does Home Mean to You?

It could be the inspiration of still being in close quarters with co-workers and new friends. Or it could be the mellowness of all ZURBians everywhere. But when put on the spot and asked about where home is, for each of us the answers are universally ZURBified! See for yourself:

It Takes an Army

Each and every year at ZURBwired we go through quite a bit of coffee. The machine at work is in constant motion and anything in the fridge with caffeine is quickly put to use. However, sometimes you need to bring in the experts. The few, the proud, the Baristas. We have a pretty legit coffee machine here at the office. It's got those little cups that do single serving coffee ... pretty fancy, but unfortunately it doesn't add whipped cream or caramel deliciousness. So where do you go at 10pm when you need a little mocha iced whipped cream super dopeness? Starbucks, of course!

ZURB Wired Evening Photos

Twelve full hours of working can do a lot to a person. It's a true test of a person's will to keep working. But would you look at these faces? Intensity and happiness abound. The next part of the day gets tougher.

Shawna Shares Her Baggage with ZURBians

What do you get when you have Shawna passing around bags filled with bottles of mouthwash, toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant? Her way of telling us we all smell and require a bath. Unfortunately we have no time to bathe so Shawna punted a McGyver move with gift bags of these items for all of us.

What Do Wireframes and Massages Have In Common?

ZURBwired is getting into the evening hours are we're still chugging along with our friends at Rebuilding Together Peninsula. We've got engineers working on code, wireframes and making sure everything is responsive (which, of course it is! Foundation works like a boss). Caleb is a man of many talents. As a native of Indiana, he can tell you when to pick an ear of corn, down to the minute. In addition to his corn whispering prowess, he can also put together a pretty slick wireframe. It's true! Check the video for proof... about the wireframes. The corn stuff is still up for debate.

A Video of Video People Talking About Making a Video

No, there isn't a glitch in the matrix, you read that right. Jordan and Arthur are multi-tool players. They can both code up a website with a quickness, as well as record, edit and curate all the video content your heart could possibly desire. In between coffee breaks and massage sessions, these two talented gentlemen have been getting some spectacular stuff from our partners at Rebuilding Together. 25th anniversaries, whether for a marriage or a non-profit, are always a big deal. The silver anniversary. While we don't have any bling to give out, we do have this quick video update ... about how the video is coming together.

ZURB Wired Afternoon Photos

The teams have been hard at work this afternoon trying to put the pieces together of the website, print collateral and video. Amazing effort so far. It's validation that being human is pretty darn cool.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Downstairs at ZURB headquarters the video team of fellow ZURBians Arthur, Roland, Jordan and volunteer Jason have just returned from a road trip out to Rebuilding Together Peninsula's warehouse. With camera in hand their mission was to create a story through film. They shot key backgrounds to give the video a sense of place. They also went to a few building sites to conduct interviews with clients of the non-profit.

Engineers Code Deep Behind the Scenes

Forging a microsite from zero is no small task. Even with focused goals, we expect our engineers' keyboards to tremble under their constant typing.

Brochures, Wireframes and Front End Code, Oh My!

At ZURB we pride ourselves on tackling any potential problems from a design perspective. From Afton, our accountant, all the way to Chris, our marketing guru, when we have an idea, everybody grabs a Sharpie and gets in the mix.

Making the Transition from Concept to Design

Earlier this morning you met the team and saw the beginnings of ZURB Wired 2013. We spoke to our team leads and introduced you to our friends at Rebuilding Together Peninsula about kicking off our long sleepless, endeavor together.

Putting Flesh on the Skeleton

Content is easy to get wrong. You could have the most well-thought-out prototypes and wireframes, but without the right text and voice, your message will get lost. We wanted to make sure we got this right. Ryan, our lead editor and resident wordsmith, broke out the word-whips and laid the smackdown to finely tune every single syllable and character for Rebuilding Together Peninsula. Anyway, back to the content. Here's a video updating you on our progress. It's content of content. Like Inception, except with less DiCaprio and more Red Bull.

Content and Caffeine Flows Through Our Veins

We're into the third hour of our design process and at least our second gallon of coffee. The team is busy brainstorming ideas to pinpoint an overarching theme for the non-profit's 25th anniversary. The question now is, what content will engage an entire audience, reach out to the lives affected, and tell a history from stories past? How do we tell the story of those who Rebuilding Together Peninsula has helped, who lent a hand, and those who lead?

ZURB Wired Morning Photos

One of the cool things about ZURB Wired is that we capture the entire event with photos and videos and edit them real time. As the day goes on you can see the tiredness set in... but spirits always remain high. Check out the photos on Flickr:

Finding a Voice for 25 Years

Tone, vibe, feel, mood — whatever you want to call it, is an oft overlooked step in the design process. Sure, anybody can pick colors, but which? What emotions are you trying to push through your pixels? That's where moodboards come into the equation. What's a moodboard? Here's our Senior Designer, Anthony, to explain his process.

There's a Brainstorm on the Horizon...

ZURBwired continues at a breakneck pace. Thus far everybody is holding up pretty well … with the exception of that intern we lost at around 10am. We think he may be hiding in the janitor's closet. We'll let you know when the search party returns. We would look ourselves but we've kind of got some stuff going on today — like turning ideas into tangible sketches, wireframes and mockups. Curious about the process? Good. We just so happen to have another video for your beautiful eyes.
