We were crazy enough to do this for the first time in 2006. We had tried to help nonprofits before and learned that an inspiring mission was not enough if the organization operated in a wildly inefficient or disorganized manner. Marketing opportunities get stuck too easily, stalling efforts to drive that mission forward. Design, teamwork and a 24-hour timebox turned out to be the trick for maximizing our impact on a nonprofit organization.
This event gives the ZURB team a chance to help a nonprofit get unstuck by giving back in the best way we know how — by helping them solve problems through our time and effort. We get to stretch and grow while sharing our unique skill set for designing things for people.
ZURBwired gives nonprofits the framework on how to assemble goal-oriented teams so that they can make more inspired business and marketing decisions. They'll are also able to execute on their decisions in a vastly more efficient way. At the end, ZURBwired creates a tangible result in the forms of materials, tools and ideas that market their concept or event.
This is our fifth year running the ZURBwired event and something we plan to keep doing in the future. We have collaborated with an amazing bunch of people over the years. The fact that they are crazy enough to volunteer their time, expertise and efforts along with ours is incredibly motivating to our team.
The total donation of our time and effort, as well as that of our partners and volunteers, exceeds $30,000. Over the years, we've helped our participating nonprofits raise more than $100,000, something we're incredibly proud to say!ZURBwired is both crazy and effective. The effort is not free, it takes hard work and dedication. Sure, we make a lot of stuff in those 24 hours, but the real impact we hear about lasts years and influences the optimism and approaches of the nonprofits long afterward!
"From everyone at RAFT, Greg and Dave, and me - thank you very very much! Compared to the last website which we've done which took 2 years this was absolutely painless. Thank you! I'm out of words! We're in the business of making things memorable and this was definitely memorable."
- Mary Simon, Executive Director at RAFT
"It was amazing. It has really exceeded my expectations. We had priorities of what we wanted to accomplish which was the campaign materials and the invitations. I actually thought we would not get to invitations, but we did not even finish that but we did a number of other things we did not anticipate. It was amazing how productive everyone was and how much energy everyone had!"
- Susan Peterson, Pie Ranch Board Member
"Just blown away by the extent of the contribution ZURB has made to our organization."
- Jered Lawson, Executive Director at Pie Ranch
