Beating the clock with a local nonproift ... again!

Every year, ZURB works with a dedicated nonprofit team and a few passionate volunteers to accomplish an entire marketing campaign. This all happens in a mere 24 hours.

Why 24 hours?

We're gearing up for our seventh ZURB wired event, where we work alongside a nonprofit to get over a design hump. The catch: everything has to be done in a 24 hour time crunch. You might be thinking, "that's crazy!" And it is. But we've learned over the years that nonprofits stall and an inspiring mission wasn't enough to kick them back into gear.

Design, teamwork and a 24-hour timebox turned out to be the trick for maximizing our impact on a nonprofit organization. This event also gives the ZURB team a chance to give back to the community the best way we know how — by helping them solve problems through our time and effort.

Are you a nonprofit that needs help or do you know of one? We'd love to hear from you.

Still strong (and crazy) after seven years!

We were crazy enough to do our first Wired in 2006 and, in 24-hours, blazed through a huge marketing effort.

Helping non-profits succeed

Our first Wired wasn't just a stunt. We saw an educational opportunity where nonprofits could learn design thinking and push forward!

Working with nonprofits over the years, we've found that they need every detail figured out before they take action. There's a time and place for detail, but when getting a project off the ground, it can be paralyzing. That's where design thinking comes to the rescue!

This year, we worked alongside Rebuilding Together Peninsula, a non-profit that helps families and communities in the Bay Area. They needed our help in putting together marketing materials for their 25th Anniversary. In 24 hours, we built a new site, printed new brochures and other goodies for their celebration next year.

Our past Wired events were a success

Here’s who we’ve helped. Many more to come!

Past Events

Want to be a part of Wired?

Volunteering means signing up for the full 24 hours, showing up on time, and committing to helping various team members out in a fluid schedule that will test your mettle throughout the day and night (and day again).

The people who have the most rewarding experiences are also the ones who contribute the most. Web, visual and print design skills are best. They are great at their craft, think quick on their feet, likable and motivated to help a non-profit and collaborate with ZURB.

    What we are looking for:

  • Hard Worker

It takes a lot to go 24 hours straight.

  • Scrappy

Be able to figure out how to do something

  • Team Player

Be able to give helpful feedback

We love local businesses!

Anything you can send to our efforts would be awesome. We really like goodies — cupcakes and coffee — to keep our volunteers fueled or help with getting our print materials ... well, printed.
