  • Jessica Hische, Letterer and Illustrator

We hope to see you at the next Soapbox. We'll update this page soon with interesting tidbits about the event plus the podcast!

About Jessica Hische

She started her career as a freelance illustrator, working for a variety of clients and gaining steady income. Then, she began Daily Drop Cap, an online project initially meant to help her sharpen her lettering skills, but quickly took on a life of it’s own. Daily Drop Cap introduced the web to Jessica’s lettering work and shot her career into the stratosphere.

Now, big names like Wes Anderson, Tiffany & Co., The United States Postal Service, The New York Times, Penguin Books, Target, Starbucks, and Wired Magazine turn to her to create custom typefaces, signs, and logos to give their brands, products and companies unique voices that will stand out in a crowd.

Spending her time between San Francisco, CA, and Brooklyn, NY, Jessica’s work is everywhere, and she shows no signs of slowing down. She’s been named a Print Magazine New Visual Artist (20 under 30), one of Forbes 30 under 30 in Art and Design, an ADC Young Gun, and a “Person to Watch” by GD USA.

On September 25, 2015 at 12:00 PM (PST), Jessica will hop on her Soapbox to talk about where she finds inspiration, her process for creating the perfect typeface to match a client’s or product’s voice and why it’s so important to be yourself.
