About Katie Dill

Katie Dill, Head of Experience Design at Airbnb, is using design to tap into and satisfy the essential human need to belong. More than just a service to rent rooms, Airbnb is focused on building lifelong connections between the people they serve and bring back our sense of being part of a community.

We first spoke with Airbnb cofounder Joe Gebbia in the company’s early days, and it was fascinating to hear his thoughts and insights on how his designer led company was using design to transform real world experiences. Since then, Airbnb has enjoyed meteoric growth, and is now valued at more than $10 billion. The company now serves a global audience and their ideas have only grown even grander.

ZURB’s mantra is “Design for People”, so we’re thrilled to sit down with Katie at this stage of the company’s growth and hear how she’s using design to craft people-oriented digital experiences that bleed into the real world. Katie has a long history of people oriented design, spending years as Creative Director and Partner at Greenstart, a venture firm that provided design help to startups. She also spent time at Frog Design, a respected design and strategy company in San Francisco.

On June 3rd, 2015 at 12:00 PM (PST), we’ll ask Katie to share ways companies can improve their users’ experience with their products, how digital experiences can influence physical ones and vice versa, and what factors designers should consider when building for a global audience.
