ZURB is embarking on our second annual ZURBwired; a 24-hour coffee fueled marketing marathon, during which we select one local nonprofit and help them accomplish a huge goal. We accepted proposals from many nonprofits and then came together as a team to pick one project. ZURB and our partners cover all the costs associated with the event, including printing, delivery, productions, photography purchases, etc.
And everyone on the ZURB team is excited to announce that we've selected this year's nonprofit!
Meet Pie Ranch, a thriving, hands-on farm and food education center. Their mission is to inspire urban and rural people to know the source of their food and to improve the health of our food system from seed to table.
Their team of five will be joining the ZURB team of eight and a half on April 9 here at the ZURB headquarters in Campbell. In addition, we have a dedicated core of volunteers to pitch in, as well as partners like Chase VP and Qik to help us make this event a success by printing materials and helping broadcast live video.
We'll start work at 8:00am April 9 and wrap it all up at 8:00am April 10. And you can follow the whole event start to finish via images, videos, a blog and Twitter online at www.zurbwired.com.
Dinner with Adelaide
The bulk of our work on April 9 will done helping Pie Ranch come up with a theme, menu, web presence and all the necessary collateral to host their largest farm event ever. The Pie Ranch team is already visualizing a long dinner table in the field that can seat hundreds of people and be filled with the bounty of a late summer harvest.Reach for the Pie! Campaign
Currently, Pie Ranch sits on 14 acres above the historic Issac Steele Ranch. Their Reach for the Pie! campaign is a capital campaign to raise the $1.25 million necessary to buy the historic farm and homestead, which is being protected from development by the Peninsula Open Space Trust until then end of this year, at which point Pie Ranch hopes to have raised the money to buy the land.About Pie Ranch
Pie Ranch is determined to teach and remind Bay Area residents of where food really comes from (not just the supermarket) and the work and pride involved in planting, growing and harvesting that food.
