Last week we welcomed an addition to the ZURB team: our new developer and resident nerd, Matt Kelly. It was a perfect fit. ZURB has been looking for a developer with a great roll-up-your sleeves attitude and Matt fit the bill. He was originally drawn to ZURB because our office is only a mile from his house. That, and he's always wanted to work with hip interaction designers.
Despite rumors that we only hired him so we could have an office dog, ZURB maintains that Matt was brought on board for his superior code-wrangling skills. He's been working with our chosen platform – Ruby on Rails – for 3 years, ever since he got sick of PHP. He hopes to be able to apply his full range of skills to the job, especially his samurai SQL skills, web application performance maximization and ability to deflect small yellow projectiles.
He brings the team to a solid 10 and a half people (we'll talk about Alvin next week) and so far his favorite part of the job is getting to work on really challenging problems with very smart (and silly) people.
"He gets frustrated, gets up and
leaves, and then solves the
problems in his sleep."
- Jeremy on the new guy
Matt spends his time at ZURB working on our top-secret product. He'd love to tell you what he spends his spare time doing, but insists that since he started at ZURB, he has no more free time.
When he applied at ZURB his resume listed this professional goal: A challenging software development environment with small team structure and socially responsible product space.
Welcome to ZURB, Matt.
