FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
'CANNED ART' GETS A NEW MEANING
ZURB Releases First Panoramic Print in a Paint Can
Campbell, California—December 4, 2002—ZURB owner Bryan Zmijewski, a California-based
consultant, designer and artist, announced today the availability of the first of his
'Canned Art' series. The print, a 4" x 36" digital rendering of the San Francisco
skyline, is conveniently packaged in a signed paint can. The piece, priced at $29.99
plus shipping and tax, is available at Isn't that Life? gallery at 21 Princess Street
in Sausalito, California; online by visiting www.zurbart.com;
or by calling 650-533-0469.
"When most people refer to 'canned art,' they're thinking along the lines of clip art
or stock photography," said Bryan. "ZURB's canned art is completely different. Far
from something you'd find on every Internet art site or in the 'prints' section of your
local Wal-Mart, it's a unique way to present something of beauty. The print is
attractive, and the presentation of it in a paint can makes it easier to give art as
a gift.'
Bryan's panoramic photo impression of the San Francisco skyline as seen from Sausalito,
California, shows a twilight setting, capturing the locale during a time of day when
most of its city inhabitants are heading home from a long day at work. "There is magic
in that setting, and I wanted to capture an expansive view of San Francisco Bay for
people who must rely on their memories or imagination to revive or create that image,"
commented Bryan. “San Francisco provided a unique opportunity to create a super-panoramic
of the beautiful city skyline.”
Why put art in a can? "My nature is to question what most others simply accept. I want
to challenge the assumption that all canned art is mediocre. Art takes many forms…it
doesn't have to be matted and framed in some museum in order to make it valid. By putting
my art in a can, completely playing on the phrase 'canned art', I’m creating affordable
art in a form factor that makes buying it fun and less stressful."
The next Canned Art: San Francisco print to be released will be of row homes in San
Francisco. The print will be released in February, 2003.
