This course consists of two parts. The first describing the overarching concepts of interaction design (telling what makes good interaction design). And the second showing and describing those concepts at the implementation level (showing and describing good interaction design).
Pages and elements need to be conceptualized before we can start designing interactions for them. This hands on workshop will focus on teaching the skill of sketching fast, and in volume, to quickly turn ideas into light weight prototypes, without having to write a line of code.
The first step is a new idea, this course teaches taking a great idea, and turning it into something people will want, and love using. From the first product concepts to prototyping, sketching, information architecture, and interaction design, participants will see how everything comes together, and walk away with a clear path to start building great products.
Expanding on the concepts presented in Interaction Design Engineering, this course will teach tools for designing good information hierarchies. The idea of the sitemap will be discarded, in favor of building applications around workflows.
Why waste your time building something no one wants to use? Validating an idea requires having something to show people. Participants will learn to move past hand waving (or worse, building the entire product) to get an idea in front of other people, and get valuable feedback.
