Yay the redesign is online!
Thanks to everyone who commented or liked the Snaps of this design, I posted a while ago. You guys helped me a lot with all your feedback and suggestions!
Of course any new opinions are highly appreciated, too!
lol at the guitar hero bit..
wow it's amazing, I like the portfolio page a lot!
Very nice design - I'd recommend that you amend the next/previous tabs to just say "Next" and "Previous". The combination of "Next Work" and "Previous" looks a little clumsy and it's not really necessary to have the word "Work" as it's pretty clear this is your portfolio, so it's implicit each image will be work related :)
@adamwhitcroft You're absolutely right. This is actually something that happened during the translation phase. There is a german version of the website, too. And the german words are longer (e.g. Vorheriges, Nächstes). For some reason, I thought my coding couldn't take making the "banners" smaller for the english version, which is why I tried to make the words fill the banners better.
Honestly, when I read your comment I thought "d'oh, could have thought of that sooner".
Thanks for your comment :D.
What do you mean when you say "needs some work"?
Well but I'm NOT an interaction designer OR a graphic designer. Actually I'm a media designer (which translates to Mediengestalter in german, which is the title of my highest job qualification. I hope I get this right, honestly these kind of things always confuse me when trying to translate my educational status from german to english xD). Anyway, since you have to choose a field of specialty for your final exams (Digital or Print) and I really don't do any print stuff, I decided that the following three titles could apply to me:
Media Designer (which I think is a little too unspecific)
Web Designer (which doesn't quite fit, since I design apps and other stuff, too. And your uncle's neighbour's son is a web designer, too. And he's only 14. You know what I mean xD)
To me Screen Designer seemed to be the best option. But I'm open for discussion :)
The "TO THE TOP"-Link bugged me a lot. Since the overall width is rather small and the first letter of all three words starts with a "T", centering the text doesn't make it look centered, it looks as though "TO" just has some odd spacing :/
You're absolutely right, I should use the Gotham font. When I started coding the website, the Google Font API didn't have those fonts in it. (Yes it took me quite a while to code it xD)
Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback!
I love it Bianca, great job. Love the colors.
@dMullins Actually I think that since there is an english version, the title should be something that makes sense. Sometimes it's just odd with native english words in german. For example I didn't know that Screen Designer is a term no one uses. Someone has to point stuff like that out to me. Though Digital Designer sounds little bit weird, doesn't it? Maybe Interaction Designer is the best title for the english version after all.
Concerning the font: I did a very quick search before writing the last comment and somhow missed the fact, that I actually didn't find anything, I mistook the "Didn't find anything"-message for "Here it is". But I will try to find a better font.
Or maybe lowercase for those links will get the job done, too.
wow im gonna bookmark this, good job!
I liked at the third potency. Really awesome work, congrats.
Really great design skills. Really enjoyed watching it! You have a very good sense of humor, made me smile on multiple occasions hehe!
Wow - Cool site!
I like the overall design a lot. It's easy to navigate, the typography works well and the colors compliment each other nicely.
Also, I'm digging all the little details you have like the iFrame-stuff when viewing the demos, auto-scrolling when you click back and the hover effect on your portfolio items. It's clear that you possess some great attention to detail.
Now I have one of those MacBooks with a high-res display so it might just be me, but I find the text at little too small. I tried bumping up the font size by one pixel from 12px to 13px via the inspector in Chrome and that actually made a big difference. But again, it might just look perfectly fine, as is, on a normal monitor :)
@Ahrengot Thank you so much!
I viewed the website on a MacBook (15"), an iMac (27") and a number of "normal" screens (22" - 24") and I think it's readable on all of them.
In the end I have to say, that I'll leave it like it is. Though I of course am glad that you mentioned it and I respect your opinion, but if I bump up the font size, the descriptions will get too long and I'll have to edit some of them and well like I said , I think they are readable.
i love your work its simply and nice
great site, whats the status of this new cool cms you have there?? it looks promising
@yaninelbi Thank you :)
It's currently in the development phase. @paratron is a coding genius and currently working on it, though I think it'll still be some time until it's all finished...
