CSS Animation Missing Something

Recreating an animated gif with css, there is something "off" about it; it's not as smooth as other animations i've made, and there are noticeable white spaces between keyframes. I split the gif into separate frames and recreated each precisely. However once the animation is added, it's not as exact as i thought it would. i think it may have something to do with animation-timing-function or animation-fill-mode, two properties i don't know that much about. you can see/tinker here: jsfiddle.net/jalbertbowdenii/pSZr6/2/ you can see much more detail and each state (but no tinkering, sorry) here: dev.bowdenweb.com/nes/super-mario-brothers/items/…

Cross-Browser CSS to display text upside down. I reckon you can use it for more than text, but that's the only use I've applied it to so far. Probably be nice to use on images, etc.
