Designer partner requested. I made a blog engine for Rails that needs a real UI.

I work primarily in Ruby on Rails. I was putting together my own site and I wasn't really satisfied with existing blog platforms for Rails, so I decided to make my own Rails engine for blogging. Also, I thought it would be a good exercise to get some open source code out in the wild. I call it Parlez. "Parlez" means "Speak!" in French. I have taken a shot at designing the admin UI using colour combinations from Kuler and ColorLovers, but, man, I'm not visually inclined. I've srsly gone over board on the text drop shadows (CSS3, I'm sorry!)... As you can see, there are still a couple of bugs (the double Body label, for example), but this screenshot has most of the UI elements and demonstrates the look and feel I currently have. I would like to partner with a friendly designer(s) to put together a design for an admin UI that is beautiful, memorable, confident, and invites the user to interact with it. I am in NO way tied to the current design. In fact, I would love to collaborate with someone who is opinionated about how a good user interface should work/look and wants to make it happen. So... help me out!

Football blog redesign

I have been fiddling around with some concepts for a redesign i am doing for a sports news brand. There are going to be different sites for every team in the premier league and this is the v1 for the tottenham version.

Visual Design

The Web Needs Better Layout

I've spent the majority of this last year reading. Outside of work, I've mostly been away from the keyboard; it's been both refreshing and painful. I've read books, evaluated print, and took time aside to decide what I feel like is the best way to move forward as a web designer. Even after this short hiatus, it didn't take long for me to reform my opinion of the web: it's a powerful unique medium that can tend to feel under designed– specifically with layout. Here is one of my latest attempts to recreate a simple blog article. I look forward to hearing your thoughts, Jordan

iOS 7 Control Center Re-imagined

Today’s iOS 7 announcement leaves me disappointed. On one hand I’m very excited about the direction the new design is going, on the other hand there are many design details that are just not there yet. Besides the notorious new app icons, another piece of iOS 7 that makes me cringe whenever I look at it is the new Control Center (left). It’s visually very noisy and feels very crowded, so tonight I took some time to re-imagine it a bit (right), leaving the layout alone for now and simply focusing on the visual treatments.
