Design for People
An Engineer who wants to be part of something HUGE!
About the position
You've been in the business for a few years now. You’ve done the whole start up thing and you're ready to find something a little more meaty. Working as one of many developers isn't appealing to you anymore and the commute to San Francisco isn't doing it for you either. You're ready to be part of a team, not just on one. You love open source, not just using it but contributing and leading projects to success.
ZURB’s Foundation is already a top-20 open source project, the most advanced responsive front-end framework in the world, and we believe it can be more. We think that Foundation can be literally the foundation of everything you do visually, allowing you to build your visual identity once and take it to every aspect of your product, from the web to mobile apps, desktop apps, and email. We're looking for a driven individual to take charge of the Foundation team, work with our active and passionate community, taking the Foundation Family to the next level.
Who we are
We're a team of driven product designers who believe in rapid prototyping, multi-device design and teaching people how to design. We've been around since 1998, creating world-class products that hundreds of millions of people actually use. We believe Design, with a capital "D", can change the world, and we’re making it happen. You’ll have the opportunity to build better products that solve problems and meet our customers needs.
What your day will look like
Working closely with the team, you’ll spend time planning and developing the roadmaps for the Foundation Family. Some days you’ll be working on a hot new feature. Other days you will be deep into code, addressing architecture or fixing a tricky bug. All the while, working with the team to galvanize the passionate Foundation open source community to amplify your efforts. You’ll work with our awesome engineering team to keep Foundation and ZURB on the cutting edge of front-end development, collaborate with ZURB University to create and deliver training and courses, and learn Progressive Design — ZURB’s flagship design process — and how it applies to Product Engineering. At the end of the day, you'll find that you are more than just a developer, you’re working with a world-class design organization, helping millions of people design for people and making a difference in the the product design community -- and that's pretty awesome.
What you bring to the table
- 5-10 years of development experience working in a startup, independent contractor, or similar environment
- 1-2 years of Extensive knowledge of AngularJS bonus points for experience with other MV frameworks (Ember, Backbone and React)
