Tim Hartwick

Pug enthusiast. Impeccable bug tester. Design aficionado.

Tim’s goal in life is to make technology as painless as possible. He’s always strived to make designs usable before making them beautiful. On each project he asks himself, “would my Mom be able to use it?”

Growing up in Cincinnati, he was fascinated with art and visual design. Tim’s interest grew with the web, and he went on to graduate from Ball State University with a B.S. in Advertising and a Master’s in Information Communication Sciences.

As a graduate of Ball State, Tim’s no stranger to ZURB. He was first introduced to our team through a fellow Ball State grad who was then a ZURB designer and, when he heard that a second friend had hired on as a ZURB designer, his curiosity was piqued enough to pay us a visit from his home in Muncie, IN.

In fact, that’s his stomping ground. Tim hails from the Midwest, specifically Chicago, Cincinnati and Muncie. There he worked in the Digital Corps as a designer. He designed apps, websites, and even got his hands dirty with some code.

He was attracted to ZURB for its faster-than-light pace — or, at least, its faster-than-university work. School, he said, doesn’t always progress as quickly as design agencies demand, and he’s excited to get real experience working alongside seasoned designers.

Before joining ZURB, Tim wandered back and forth between technology and design. Working here, he said he’s finally found a place that encourages synthesis of the two into something that helps the world use and understand technology.
