Our Story

Completing 100 design projects every year gives us unique perspectives and insights you can’t find anywhere else.

ZURB

In the simplest terms, ZURB is a product design company. We help companies design incredible digital products (things like desktop software, mobile apps, etc), websites, and integrated services.

But that definition barely scratches the surface of what we do here. Our greatest strength lies in our ability to surface design insights, those rare and precious revelations of deep understanding that catapult projects forward and drive teams toward radical innovation. They’re the difference between good ideas and groundbreaking ones and can make the difference between a product that falters and one that generates billions in revenue.

Our work doesn’t stop with the designs themselves either. We transform entire organizations as well. Through our training, we help companies not just create better work, but work together better. We teach multiple teams to speak the same language, build empathy with each other, and give them the tools to communicate their ideas in ways that build unstoppable momentum. Working with ZURB doesn’t just propel your project forward, it can help level up your whole organization.

Lastly, our tools help millions of designers every day. Hundreds of thousands of the biggest and most influential companies in the world build their websites on Foundation, our responsive front-end framework that has changed the way the web is built. Helio allows teams to share their work with thousands of people and get insightful feedback in minutes.

None of this would be possible without our dynamic and empowering culture. It’s built on a set of shared values that shapes everything we do, both as individuals and as a whole. We sincerely believe that design has near limitless potential to change our world for the better, and this common belief has drawn together our creative, curious and eccentric group of designers, researchers and engineers. Come meet the team.

Our Fearless Leader

Part man, part muse, Bryan Zmijewski leads ZURB and holds the title of “Chief Instigator.” A Stanford grad and lecturer, one of Bryan’s first gigs was designing toys for IDEO. In 1998 he started what was to become ZURB and has been shaping and changing the way people think about building products through Progressive Design ever since. Bryan has boundless energy and spends his days challenging us to think bigger and supporting us when the road gets a little bumpy.
